The Pros And Cons Of Windows And Linux
If you ask a dozen computer experts whether Windows or Linux is the better operating system, you’ll probably get a variety of answers. Whatever OS works best for you is going to be the one you choose. Linux has a lot of information about itself on the Internet which is accessible through search engines. Windows information can be found on the Microsoft website. Let’s look at some of the best reasons why you might be inclined to choose either Windows or Linux.
People who use Linux say that they have no problems overcoming Windows programs and their limited compatibility. Emulator programs is something that will let you use Linux and have Windows programs running on it. Unless the computer has Windows installed on them, then most of the time these programs will not run nearly as fast. There are devices that could cause a problem with compatibility, and some of them could be flash drives, digital cameras and printers, to name a few. Running any Windows program won’t be that hard for those who know how Linux works, but for everyone else, it will take a while to learn. You might need to put of with the inconveniences of the compatibility problems and spend some time learning, but there are many advantages of using Linux.
One of the most famous operating systems that utilizes Linux in the background is Ubuntu. This is a great OS for many reasons. This OS actually comes on a CD and you operate it from the CD without any type of installation. Imagine that! Doing this allows you to see if you really want to change out your Windows system. Simple and fast, Ubuntu is an OS you might want to give some serious consideration. If you are looking for an OS that is not as demanding as Windows, Ubuntu could be the alternative that you are looking for. It’s also easy to upgrade this operating system as new features are introduced. Ubuntu is helping regular people like you and I understand the Linux operating system.
Very effective educational tools are offered for the Linux operating system. Many schools have switched over to Linux because they find it easier to use all of the resources that it has available for students. Of course, the fact that Linux software is free is a great advantage in this area all by itself, especially in a time when many schools are facing budget cuts. Microsoft Windows is still the most popular operating system on the planet, though this may change as times get more difficult and Linux continues to improve.
Even though Linux has a lot of positive and compelling reasons to try it out, most people will probably want to stick with Windows. Windows is designed for people that like simplicity and that do not have to think about anything other than turning the computer on and checking their e-mail. Linux offers you an alternative. It just depends how adventurous you are and how much of a techie you want to be.
